  • Curious Zebras

    Size: 16”x20”

Medium: Japanese Watercolours on 💯 cotton arches archival paper.

Description: On this day we were surprised to be unusually greeted by 3 zebras who were neither afraid of the chopper nor its passengers! I wonder what was on their minds! Do notice the interplay of light on the zebra’s backside and also the shadows. I applied a wash of yellow ochre and light green in the background with smudges of red to give the feeling of the tall grass with sporadic flower buds. Did your eyes rest on the zebra?

Notice the glow of light from the lantern reflected on the zebra’s face. The effect of light was created using permanent yellow deep, orange, and burnt sienna.
