𝐇𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐚𝐭 — 𝗪𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞

‎ وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ

"...And from water we brought everything to life" (Qur’an 21:30)

⁣⁣Water as life-giving is expressed through the vegetal patterns that emerge steadily on my paper.

⁣⁣These mystical patterns that include ancient biomorphic and geometric symbols were created under the patronage of the Fatimi Imams ^SA, by geometric masters of the tenth to twelfth centuries. They contain the wellsprings of wisdom towards 𝘏𝘢𝘺𝘢𝘵 𝘈𝘣𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘺𝘢 that allow us to slake our thirst for divinity, attain the highest states of consciousness, and to live in this world as ‘awakened beings’. These reservoirs of heightened awareness, from the depths of my imaan, nourish my art and lend form to inchoate yearnings.⁣⁣

In this blessed Shahre Ramazan al-Moazzam, the month of 𝘴𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘮 and 𝘲𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘮, fasting and praying, we willfully forsake water so we may quench our spiritual thirst to attain the wisdom that awakens the 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘦𝘬𝘢𝘩, angels, within us. The state of fasting and praying helps elevate us from our bodily senses into a deeper awareness of who we are. ⁣⁣

Far from the outer chaos and frivolous distractions, it redirects us to the purest state of inner bliss and 𝘪𝘣𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘩, total submission — the true purpose of a believer's journey on Earth.

⁣⁣The life-giving water of this fountainhead of wisdom is what lends us ease in this world, and what makes us truly 𝘩𝘢𝘺𝘺, immortal, despite our otherwise corporeal existence.⁣
